Dead are 23-year-old Ashante Subblefield and 29-year-old Daveon Stubblefield who were found shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, in a field along the 11600 block of Chamberlaine Way.
“An argument between a husband and wife ended with the husband … shooting 23-year-old Ashante Stubblefield and then turning the gun on himself,” coroner’s officials said in a written statement. “Both were pronounced dead at the scene.”
Gardendale Police Chief Mike Walker said that Pastor Terry Greer, 54, shot his wife, Lisa, 52, and daughter, Suzanna, 18, at the church-owned parsonage on Thursday. Lisa Greer died Friday at UAB Hospital.
After being shot, Suzanna Greer took the gun away from her father and ran to a neighbor, who called police, Walker said. She is recovering and was able to give police a detailed description of the shooting.
Terry Greer took a kitchen knife and went to the bathroom, where he repeatedly stabbed himself in the neck and chest, Walker said. Responding officers restrained Greer, who resisted arrest. He was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
